The first of five lectures on the culture of Israel, sponsored by the America-Israel Society, was delivered here tonight by the Rev. S. Ralph Harlow, professor emeritus of Smith College, who spoke on “The Roots of Israeli Culture.” Gov. Theodore McKeldin of Maryland is president of the Society.
The lecture was delivered at Columbia University, whose Center for Israel Studies is a co-sponsor of the series. Other lectures in the series will be delivered this month and next by Americans prominent in cultural circles, who will cover art, music, archaeology and literature in Israel.
