David E. Kaufman, former U.S. Minister to Bolivia and later to Siam, and his brother Morgan S. Kaufman, of Philadelphia, today announced the gift of their estate, “Davan Lodge,” at Towanda, Pennsylvania, worth an estimated $250,000 to the Hebrew Union College, and its affiliated Jewish Institute of Religion.
The lodge, which includes 30 acres of surrounding land and 11 buildings besides the main house, will be used as “an inter-faith center and a summerretrcat for the students and members of the faculty of the Institution. ” David E. Kaufman was U.S. Minister to Bolivia in 1928-1929 and U. S. Minister to Siam in 1930-1933.
