French Jewry’s celebration of the 10th anniversary of Israel’s independence opened here in France’s oldest synagogue, the Carpentras Synagogue, which was built in 1337. Jews, Catholics and Protestants from the surrounding area came here to hear former Premier Daladier, Israel Ambassador Yaacov Tsur and French Chief Rabbi M. Kaplan.
