Gen. Smuts Supports Weizmann on Partition

Minister of Justice Jan Christiaan Smuts, referring to the proposed partition of Palestine at a Zionist banquet, declared: “I range myself behind (Dr. Chaim) Weizmann and those knowing more about it. I bow to their judgment.” General smuts said he looked forward to relaxation of Palestine immigration restrictions as a result of the Evian refugee-aid conference. Regarding persecution in Europe, he asserted that he had sufficient faith in humanity to believe that the present state of intolerance would not last
