The U.S. Ambassador to Israel, Kenneth Keating, presented 11 new immigrants from the Soviet Union with grants which will enable them to proceed with their studies in Israel. The 11 students represent 1100 new immigrants from the USSR who were given study grants from the Special American Grants for New Immigrants. Each grant amounts to between IL 2000 and 3000 and is mainly for technical studies. The funds are distributed through the United Jewish Appeal and are given out according to the recommendations of the Aliya and Absorption Department of the Jewish Agency.
