The World Jewish Congress revealed today that it has received word from Guatemala that President Arevalo will ask the Guatemalan Congress at its forthcoming session to rescind certain laws which discriminate against the economic freedom of immigrants from the Middle East and Poland.

Dr. Robert S. Marcus, W.J.C. political director, who is now touring Latin America, notified the Congress office in New York that he had conferred with President Arevalo on this question. The President assured Dr. Marcus that he would support abrogation of the laws in question which restrict newly-arrived immigrants in operating commercial establishments, obtaining work permits and in citizenship rights.
