Hadassah presented its highest honor, the Henrietta Szold Award, to the Netherlands government and its people. The award, presented at Hadassah’s mid-winter conference here was accepted by Prof. Simon Giter, a Dutch citizen currently teaching in Israel, at his government’s request. In presenting the award, Mrs. Charlotte Jacobson, chairman of the award committee, said: “In an age when few nations choose moral position over expediency, in an age when few nations choose spiritual power as a sign of greatness and strength, the world must be grateful that the government and the people of the Netherlands shine as an example of how small nations can lead the world.”
