Since the days of World War I the National Jewish Welfare Board has demonstrated its “deep interest and unswerving support of the Armed Forces.” Gen. Charles I. Bolte, Vice Chief of Staff of the United States Army, declared here tonight at a conference of the West Coast Region of the JWB.
“In maintaining servicemen’s centers and in the general mobilization of the Jewish community on behalf of the religious and welfare needs of our troops, the Jewish Welfare Board has earned the gratitude and appreciation of the man in uniform. In providing a full quota of Jewish chaplains, members of the Jewish Welfare Board have voluntarily accepted a generous measure of responsibility for the religious welfare of the Jewish members of the Armed Forces. In all these activities they have forged a valuable link between the soldier and the home which he left when he entered military service,” Gen. Bolte stressed.
