Hyam Plutzik, a prominent award-winning American Jewish poet and associate professor of English at the University of Rochester, died here last night at the age of 50. He was born in Brooklyn, N.Y.
Mr. Plutzik’s poetry awards included Yale University’s Albert S. Cook Prize in 1941, an award from the National Institute of Arts and Letters in 1950 and a Lillian Fairchild Award in 1959. His published works included “Aspects of Proteus,” “Apples From Shinar,” and “Horatio.” He was a member of the Jewish Education Association.
