Ireland’s prime minister during World War II dismissed reports about Nazi concentration camps as British propaganda and a threat to Irish neutrality, according to new research. Belfast-based historian Patrick Maume has found that Eamon De Valera denounced a story about Bergen-Belsen that appeared in the Sunday Independent newspaper shortly after the German surrender.
