Israel was today assured of the “full friendship” of the United States, by Ambassador Edward B. Lawson, who also stressed that the U.S. was fully aware of Israel’s great desire for peace with the Arab states.

Speaking at a dinner given in his honor at ZOA House here by the Israel-American Friendship League, Mr. Lawson noted that part of his mission in this country was to assure the Israel people of the U.S. Government’s “earnest desire” to see Israel develop continuously as a partner of the free world. “There is no justification for fears” that Washington is reserving its consideration for other and larger countries, the Ambassador insisted.

“Israel is not an isolated state, but a member of the free world community, he asserted, and consideration is given Israel’s position when American foreign policy is formulated. He expressed confidence that Israel would play an important role on the world scene.
