Israel freed 199 Palestinian prisoners on Thursday, reviving the peace process after nearly a year of stalemate. The prisoners, none of whom were convicted of killing Israelis, were bused to army checkpoints in the West Bank and Gaza Strip, where they received a hero’s welcome from waiting friends and family.
