Israel has developed a replica of Iran’s most dangerous missile to train its air defense teams.
The Defense Ministry in Tel Aviv announced Tuesday that Blue Sparrow, a missile fired from an aircraft, had been developed and successfully test-fired.
According to security sources, Blue Sparrow simulates the flight characteristics of the Shehib-3, Iran’s most advanced long-range missile.
Blue Sparrow will now be matched against Arrow II, an Israeli air defense system that shoots down incoming missiles.
Arrow has already aced tests against missiles meant to replicate the Shehab-2.
The Shehib-3 is believed to fly even higher than its predecessor, and may be capable of carrying multiple nuclear warheads.
