Israel hinted that a Hamas victory in upcoming Palestinian Authority elections could stop the withdrawal from the Gaza Strip. Addressing a Jerusalem conference Monday alongside Palestinian Authority Interior Minster Nasser Youssef, Israeli Foreign Minister Silvan Shalom urged an internal crackdown on Hamas as required by the U.S.-led “road map” for peace.
