The Israel Foreign Ministry declined comment today on the announcement by the West German Government yesterday that it was looking into the problem of West German scientists working on advanced weapons systems in Egypt. However, it was indicated that the Ministry plans to issue a formal comment soon.

The Bonn statement was received here with mixed reactions. While the reported censure of West Germans working for Egypt was welcomed and the statement was considered an advance over that made by the Bonn Government’s press chief last week, it was noted that the essential question as to what actual steps the West German Government intends to take remained unanswered.

(The Associated Press reported today from Cairo that Egypt is developing a dart-shaped supersonic Jet fighter that will compare with the fastest and most deadly planes of the United States and the USSR.)
