Israel reportedly is backing Qatar’s bid for a seat on the U.N. Security Council. Ma’ariv reported Sunday that several months ago the Gulf state became the first member of the Arab League to ask Israel for help in securing a place in the top United Nations forum, and that Israeli Foreign Minister Silvan Shalom obliged.
