Israel’s drainage of the Huleh marshes, which are situated on the Israel-Syrian frontier, was the subject of discussion today of the Mixed Israel-Syrian Armistice Commission. Further discussions on this subject were postponed until both governments and General Riley, U.N. Chief of Staff, can consider the problem.

It was learned here today that Jordan did not file any complaint with the U.N. armistice commission regarding the border incident near Kalkilya, where, according to an Arab broadcast, an exchange of fire took place on Tuesday between members of the Arab legion and Israeli soldiers. Israeli official sources said today that the incident occurred when Arab shepherds and their flocks entered Israeli territory. They emphasized that the incident will be adjusted amicably.
