Israel “will be ready to make painful compromises” once negotiations with the Palestinians are resumed, Foreign Minister Shimon Peres told the Washington Institute for Near East Policy. Speaking before meeting with U.S. Secretary of State Colin Powell, Peres adopted a dovish line, saying Israel “cannot solve anything with force.”
