Israel’s Chief Rabbinical Council postponed a debate on a proposal to build a synagogue on Jerusalem’s Temple Mount. Instead, the council appointed a special committee to study the issue. Meanwhile, the senior Islamic official in Jerusalem warned that building the synagogue would start a war “that only God knows where it would lead.”
