Israel’s Conservative movement called on a former Ashkenazi chief rabbi to reach out to non-Orthodox movements in the Jewish state. Rabbi Reuven Hammer, head of the Conservative, or Masorti, Rabbinical Court for Conversion in Israel, wrote an open letter to Yisrael Meir Lau that was released Tuesday.
