Israel’s finance minister is suspected of embezzlement. Avraham Hirchson was questioned by police this week in connection with the disappearance of as much as $2.5 million from the accounts of the National Labor Federation in Eretz Yisrael when he headed it before joining the Olmert government. Hirchson has denied wrongdoing. As the investigation involves several other suspects, a decision on whether to indict the finance minister is not expected imminently.
