Israel’s foreign minister called for an international conference on the Middle East. Speaking Wednesday to a policy conference in the city of Herzliya, Silvan Shalom said such a forum would help the new Palestinian Authority leadership. It is not clear whether Shalom coordinated his remarks with Prime Minister Ariel Sharon, who last month opposed British plans for a similar conference.
