Israel’s Interior Ministry refused to grant permanent residency status to the non-Jewish mother of an Israeli soldier, the Israeli daily Ha’aretz reported. The woman, a Ukrainian citizen, arrived in Israel four months ago with her younger son to visit the older son, who immigrated on his own five years ago and currently serves in Israel’s air force.
