Premier Levi Eshkol’s record $1,500,000,000 budget for the next fiscal year, starting April 1, was approved today in Parliament by a straight coalition-opposition vote, 36 to 24.
The budget, which is a balanced one, is 600,000,000 pounds ($200,000,000) higher than that of the past fiscal year. About 10 percent of the budget is allocated for education. Following the vote, Parliament adjourned for a six-week Passover recess.
