Israel’s Security Cabinet ordered new measures to deal with the rising tide of Palestinian violence. Prime Minister Ariel Sharon’s spokesman, Ra’anan Gissin, said the series of air, sea and ground strikes Israel launched Wednesday in the West Bank and Gaza “might be a small example of the kind of operations that would come to end the terror.”
