Israel’s Supreme Court ordered the Education Ministry to stop funding four fervently Orthodox youth movements. The justices said the movements did not meet the criteria set by the ministry to receive funding, including identification with the principle that Israel is a Jewish, Zionist and democratic state, and that members be taught to consider army or national service as obligatory.
