Itim, the Israeli home news agency, marked its 25th anniversary today. The service was founded and is maintained by Israeli newspapers as a news gathering and distribution agency for domestic news and also receives and distributes foreign news through the facilities of the Jewish Telegraphic Agency, Reuters, United Press International and Agence France Presse.
According to Chaim Balzan, editor, Itim moves some 250000 words daily. It is linked through telexes and teleprinters with the offices of all major Israeli newspapers.
