Jew Named General in Brazilian Army; is Fifth Jew to Hold Such Post

Isaac Nahoum, a Jew of a Sephardic family, was named by President Humberto Castello Branca today as Divisional General, one of the highest ranks in the Brazilian army. Gen. Nahoum is a member of the general staff of the Third Brazilian Army, which has its headquarters in the Province of Parana. He is the fifth Jew to be raised to the tank of general in this country.
