A delegation of the Conference of Presidents of Major American Jewish Organizations called yesterday on W. Averell Harriman, Under Secretary of State for Political Affairs, at the State Department. The discussion touched upon the current tense situation in the Middle East, with particular emphasis on American Israel relations.
High officials of the State Department participated in the deliberations, which lasted two hours and 25 minutes. Leaving the State Department, members of the delegation refused to comment on the specific topics discussed, pointing out that these conversations were of an “ongoing” nature, and would continue.
