A demand that the Sejm annul the Czaristic restrictions against the Jews of Poland which are still operative was made today by the the Jewish parliamentary Club in the lower house of the Polish parliament. The leaders of the club pointed out that the last Sejm had passed a second reading of the bill repealing these anachronistic laws.
The club also demanded a change in the Sejm regulations that do not grant membership to minority groups on parliamentary committees unless they have at least ten members. The club urged that minority clubs should receive representation on the committees without regard to their numbers.
At a conference between M. Switalski, speaker of the Sejm, and Deputy Henry Rosmarin, vice-president of the Jewish club, Rosmarin explained the club’s demands, emphasizing that even if the Jewish club is small in numbers it is nevertheless representative of a national minority and as such is entitled to committee rights. Switalski promised to consider the club’s demands.
