The Italian Cabinet appointed General Giorgio Liuzzi, a member of one of Italy’s most distinguished Jewish families, Chief of Staff of the Italian Army today. Gen. Liuzzi has a long record of active service in the resistance battle against the Nazis and Fascists in Italy.
Gen. Liuzzi, who was decorated many times for bravery in World War I, is a military academy graduate and one of the military leaders who played an important part in the reorganization of Italy’s army after the fall of the Fascist regime which he fought. He was appointed brigadier general in 1945 and received a full generalship in 1953.
