The police today raided Jewish educational, sports and labor organizations and made many arrests after searching their quarters.

An official communique explained that the action was justified because Communists were known to have joined the raided organizations. Among the groups whose quarters were searched were the Brith Hachayal, Zionist Revisionist organization, the Hashomer Hazair, labor Zionist youth group, the Maccabi Sports Club, the Bund, Jewish labor body, and various trade unions.

A court here today sentenced two respected business men, Abraham Maspai and Shlomo Chelm to jail terms of three years and one year respectively for having wounded anti-Semitic hoodlums who had attacked them. They were also each ordered to pay the victims the sum of 120 zlotys monthly for life. The jail terms later were halved by order of the administrative authorities.
