A delegation of Jewish leaders today met with George V. Allen, Assistant Secretary of State for Near Eastern Affairs, to pursue a discussion of Israel’s security problem which was begun some time ago when Jewish leaders called at the State Department. The delegation included Dr. Nahum Goldmann, chairman of the Jewish Agency; Rabbi Phillip Bernstein, chairman of the American Zionist Committee for Public Affairs; Dr. Israel Goldstein, president of the American Jewish Congress, and Adolph Held, chairman of the Jewish Labor Committee.

The purpose of today’s meeting was to continue the discussion begun previously with the Department. The delegation is concerned over the arming of Iraq and the offer of arms to other Arab states while Israel has been denied equal consideration in American defense planning in the Near East region.
