A series of new immigration regulations which will make possible a freer entry into this country have been made public here and will go into effect on March 7.
According to the new ruling, relatives of Argentine residents in Class II will be accorded the same privilieges formerly reserved for Class I relatives. They will also be exempt from the usual immigration tax, which amounts to thirty-three gold pesos.
Class I includes parents, children, husbands, wives, brothers and sisters of persons living here. Class II includes more distant relatives, such as uncles, aunts, nieces and nephews, brothers and sisters-in-law. Prospective brides and bride-grooms will be required to pay the immigration tax at the Argentine consulate in the country from which they are coming ,the money to be refunded when marriage papers are issued to them here after their arrival.
According to the new refulations, farm laborers who come here upon the affidavit of a colonization society or can otherwise prove that they intend to engage in agriculture here will enter tax free. It is expected here that the ICA (Jewish Colonization Association) and the Immigrant Protective Association will take advantage of the opportunity to bing in a number of Jewish colonists.
Immigrants who can show documants proving that they have already lived in the Argentine will also be permitted to enter without paying any fee.
