Leaders of major American Jewish organizations today welcomed and lauded the guidelines on Catholic-Jewish relations issued in Washington by the Catholic Bishops. They considered the guidelines as being “of enormous significance.”
Among those who issued statements hailing the guidelines were Rabbi Jacob J. Weinstein, president of the Central Conference of American Rabbis (Reform); Dore Schary, president of the Anti-Defamation League of B’nai B’rith; and Rabbi Marc H. Tanenbaum, director of interreligious affairs of the American Jewish Committee.
