Several hundred Jewish families are suffering extreme misery in the town of Kock, once famous as the residence of the founder of the Chassidic school, as a result of a fire which destroyed the town several weeks ago.
The correspondent of the Jewish Telegraphic Agency visited the town yesterday in the company of Mr. Gitterman. representative of the Joint Distribution Committee. Three-fourths of the houses lie in ruins. The Jewish families are compelled to sleep in the streets and suffer from cold and hunger. The J. D. C. sent the amount of $250 for immediate aid. The Polish Jewish Committee also remitted $250 for the repair of the mikveh and $5,000 for the loan kassa. Help from abroad is urgently needed.
