Judge Dennis Davis of the Cape High Court was elected chairman of the Cape Town council of South Africa’s main Jewish group. Davis, who was an active opponent of South Africa’s apartheid regime, told JTA that a key issue for the Jewish Board of Deputies’ Cape Council would be to educate the country’s Jews to exercise citizenship “in the fullest way.”
