Leaders of European socialist parties said Europe should be open to talks with a Palestinian government led by Hamas. The leaders, meeting in Prague on Sunday, agreed that the European Union should play the role of a “peace protector” in the Middle East, said former Danish Prime Minister Poul Nyrup Rasmussen, who chairs the European Socialist Party.
