Under the heading, “Silent Pogrom Goes On”, the London Jewish Chronicle asserts in its current issue that German Jews are the victims of an atrocity campaign the magnitude of which can only be guessed at behind the smoke screen of Nazi propaganda and assurance.
According to the Chronicle, Jews throughout the Reich are being assaulted and maimed. Over the heads of whole communities of Jews hangs the Damocles sword of utter extinction, unless Nazi officialdom makes a more sincere effort to leash the base instincts among anti-Semites to which it seems, so far, to have given absolutely free rein.
Jews do not shrink from their part in battle, the Chronicle continues, presaging the necessity of German Jews literally fighting for their lives but it is upon the efficacy of international protests to Hitler and his lieutenants that greatest reliance must be fixed.
