The United States Ambassador to England, Lord Birkenhead and Sir Joynson Hicks, British Home Secretary and four hundred other guests were present at the dinner.

In his address Lord Reading paid tribute to Lady Reading who, he stated, did much to cure the racial animosity by her work among the women in India.
