Lord Melchett, president of the English Zionist Federation, today informed the Federation that he will not be a candidate for re-election because of his health and because he prefers the election of a younger and more active man. Lord Melchett recently resigned as chairman of the Council of the Jewish Agency and of the Agency’s political commission as a protest against the White Paper.
It is believed possible that Lord Melchett will be proposed for the honorary vice-presidency of the English Zionist Federation.
