Jews in the state of Sinaloa, especially in the port town of Mazatlan, have requested aid of state authorities in controlling a nationalistic campaign directed against the Jews, and which, according to press dispatches, seemed to have the support of police and municipal authorities.
Several days ago the Jewish merchants, most of whom have their places of business on Angel Flores Avenue, came to their establishments and found the walls and sidewalks plastered with anti-Semitic posters, urging the expulsion of the Jews from Mexico.
Press dispatches reported that when the Jews attempted to remove the posters, police prevented them from doing so, declaring that they should be allowed to remain for several hours for “everybody to see, since the propaganda did not contain any insults to anybody but merely expressed the opinions of the nationalists toward foreigners.”
The greater part of the town, including those sections not in the Jewish business area, was covered with the blatant posters. As far as is known, this is the first outward manifestation against the Jews on the West Coast of Mexico, where most of the nationalistic fever has vented itself on the Chinese.
