More than 200 federation leaders convened Sunday in Washington to celebrate the merger of the Council of Jewish Federations, the United Jewish Appeal and the United Israel Appeal. The “Founders Forum” marks the start of planning for major changes in how the broad-based organization allocates funds, nationally and overseas, and provides services to local communities. After six years of planning, major elements of the merger have yet to be determined, including the new entity’s name and its chief professional officer.
