The U.N. Palestine Conciliation Commission held its ?rst meeting here today in private. The meeting was attended by Husseyin Cahid Yaltchin of Turkey, Claude de Boissanger of France and, in the absence of the U.S. representative, the U.S. Minister to Berne, John Carter, acted ex officio.
After the meeting, a communique was issued stating that the Commission had id tribute to the memory of Count Folke Bernadotte, the U.K. mediator who gave his life for the cause of peace in Palestine. Husseyin Cahid Yaltchin was invited to act first chairman of the Commission.
The Commission decided to establish its official headquarters in Jerusalem. He Jerusalem headquarters will be opened as of January 24.
