The confiscation of all the property of East European Jews who have migrated to Germany since 1914 was demanded today in the Reichstag in a motion introduced by the National Socialists. This is the first anti-Jewish motion offered by the Fascists as well as the initial step in carrying out their pre-election program.
The Fascists also demanded the confiscation of the property of all bankers and stock exchange brokers, the confiscated property to put under government control. The large banks would also be taken over by the government, according to the Fascists’ plan. They would also make it a misdemeanor punishable by three months’ imprisonment for anyone to charge an interest rate of more than five percent.
These motions have resulted in considerably strained relations between the National Socialists and the other Right Wing parties friendly to them. The Nazis’ motions came as a surprise to the Economic Party and the Nationalists who now realize that the Nazis, instead of assisting in counteracting Socialism, are aiding the Communists in their plan to destroy German economic life.
Meanwhile two more Nazis who had been arrested in connection with Monday’s anti-Semitic riots were sentenced to five months’ imprisonment each.
