A book of essays on Jewish poetry, entitled, “Poets and Poetry,” by Avrohom B. Tabachnik; a Yiddish editor of the Jewish Telegraphic Agency, was published here today. Mr. Tabachnik is one of the leading Jewish poets and literary critics in this country.
The 500page volume deals in depth with Yiddish verse in the United States. The author analyzes the works of such poets as Morris Rosenfeld,. Ychoash,A. Lyesin, Mani Leib, H. Leivick, M.L. Halperin and Zisha Landau, who are considered classics in Yiddish poety, as well as the works of younger poets of prominence. He also deals with the traditions that prevailed in Jewish poetry, and the revolt against those traditions by some of the contemporary Jewish poets. The book is considered a major contribution to the study of Jewish literature. This is the sixth volume authored by Mr. Tabachnik.
