The United Jewish Appeal of Greater New York has raised $30,000,000 since February 1 toward the local share of the regular 1957 financial needs of its eight major beneficiary agencies and of the Emergency Rescue Fund set up to speed the resettlement of refugees from oppression and persecution.

Treasurer Samuel D. Leidesdorf made this interim report on New York UJA’s 1957 activities to a luncheon meeting of its board of directors in the Biltmore Hotel. Other speakers at the meeting included Israel’s Foreign Minister Golda Meir, Senator Jacob K. Javits, Eddie Cantor and board chairman Samuel Hausman, who presided.
