All sentences of death In absentia by Iraqi courts-martial have been imposed against Iraqi Jews actually serving in the Israeli Army and no Jews in Iraq are in danger of their lives, a spokesman for the State Department said today.

He said that the situation has been “cleared up” and the investigation closed by the American Embassy in Bagdad. The Department was “very relieved” to learn that the reported executions never took place, he added.
