The United Palestine Appeal in Canada was opened here with a monster mass-meeting at which Leib Jaffe, noted Zionist leader who recently arrived from Palestine, was principal speaker.
“It is not the British Government which has closed the doors of Palestine for the Jews,” Mr. Jaffe declared, but Jewish indifference. There are great prospects under the present regime in Palestine for redemption of the whole Emek.”
A quota of $40,000 was adopted for Ontario, of which several thousand dollars were raised at the first meeting. Mr. Jaffe will remain in Ontario for about two weeks and then will proceed to Winnipeg and Montreal.
