A detachment of military police raided the settlement of Kiryat Shaul, near Herzlia, at midnight Wednesday, it was learned here today.

The police, who were apparently seeking illegal arms, routed all the settlers from their homes and conducted extensive searches. No arms were found.

This is the first police raid on a Jewish settlement that has occurred in several months. A series of raids in the latter part of last year culminated with a clash between police and settlers at Ramath Hakovesh during which one colonist was killed.
